Here’s why Advocates for Youth is dedicated to getting police out of schools:

• We need a safe environment to learn everything from math to sex ed to history, and when so many encounters with the police turn violent, schools with police aren’t a safe environment for many students.
• Our schools struggle with funding resources that actually help young people stay safe and healthy - things like sex education, health centers, and LGBTQ resources.
• Schools with cops are more likely to refer young people to law enforcement, and Black students are more likely to be targeted. That alone is good enough reason to get cops out of schools.
