Hey John,
I get it: it's been a busy week. Between work, family, friends, and trying to keep up with everything going on in the world, it's easy for things to get lost in the shuffle. That's why I want to personally follow up on Silky's email and let you know the good news -- the application deadline for Ready to Rise has been extended to September 25!
We'll be joined by Houston Independent School District, District 7 Trustee Anne Sung, Texas District Court Judge Rabeea Collier, and a team of New American trainers who are ready to empower more #PeopleLikeUs to stand up for our communities, fight Trump's anti-immigrant proposals, and change the face of leadership in our democracy. All we need is you.
Let us know you'll join us and our partner, the Texas Organizing Project, on October 5 at their offices -- apply by September 20 for early admission or by the September 25 deadline!
A few hotel and registration scholarships are still available, so make sure you get your application in ASAP!
Hope to see you there,
Eva Masadiego
National Director of Leadership Programs

Subject: It's Our Time - Apply to Ready to Rise
John,
In 2018, Texas made headlines. We elected the first Latinas to ever represent our state in Congress, expanded the electorate by record amounts, and changed the national conversation about who could and should run for office by putting some of the most diverse candidates in the country on the ballot. As one of those candidates, I am proud to be a member of the movement led by New American Leaders to change the face of leadership in our country.
Now, it's your turn to join us.
On October 5, New American Leaders is launching Ready to Rise, a new one-day training in Houston, Texas, and we want you there!
As a two time alumna of New American Leaders' programs, I can tell you that this training will be unlike any other you will take. You'll learn how to share your unique New American story, the elements of a successful campaign, and walk away knowing you can help put an end to Trump's anti-immigrant actions, stand up to the hate-fueled violence we saw in El Paso, and demand accountability from elected officials who continue to ignore their responsibility to protect our elections and strengthen our democracy.
Looking ahead to 2020, we know that we need more #PeopleLikeUs -- people like YOU -- to serve on campaigns, organize our communities, and run for office in Texas and beyond if we want to create a government that works for and represents all people.
Please join me in showing that #PeopleLikeUs are the future of our democracy. Apply for Ready to Rise by September 20! Hotel and registration scholarships are available, but going quickly so apply today!
Yours in the movement,
Silky Malik
NAL Alumna, Former Candidate for Texas' 2nd Congressional District
P.S. Want to see even more people in office that represent our communities? Contribute $5, $10, or $25 to help us train new leaders.
