STEVE PEARCE RE-ELECTED AS CHAIRMAN OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY

Last night the Republican Party of New Mexico’s State Central Committee re-elected Steve Pearce as RPNM Chairman for two more years. There were 172 SCC members who voted in the virtual election. Members also selected seven other Republican Party of New Mexico officers. All elected officers will serve under the Chairman until December 2022.

Chairman Pearce, who has served 14 years as New Mexico’s Congressman in the 2^nd Congressional District, won re-election with 76 votes. Eddy Aragon, CEO of Rock of Talk radio, received 47. Geoffrey Snider, an Albuquerque businessman, got 41 and Eric Lucero, a retiree and GOP consultant, received 8.

Pearce’s victory was a referendum on what’s been a historic two years at RPNM.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve again,” said Chairman Pearce. “We have accomplished a great deal, but there’s more work to be done. I am very excited to get our Party more unified, to expand its footprint in New Mexico and to make our Party even more inclusive and diverse. RPNM will work hard to keep conservative and family values strong here and defend all of our rights and freedoms. We’ll push hard to win more seats in the legislature, win the mayoral races across the state and to fight against the socialist agenda of the progressives. We are a strong, growing Party in this state, and I see great things ahead for all of us. We will continue to work to turn New Mexico red.”

REPUBLICAN PARTY OF NEW MEXICO BEHIND ELECTION LAWSUIT TO IMPOUND ALL BERNALILLO COUNTY BALLOTS

This past week the Republican Party of New Mexico launched and financed a lawsuit, requesting that all 2020 election ballots in Bernalillo County be impounded. The suit filed in New Mexico’s Second Judicial District Court asks authorities to check the veracity of ballots.

RPNM asked 1^st Congressional District candidate Michelle Garcia Holmes to submit the petition. New Mexico law grants candidates the right to have authorities impound tally sheets, registration certificates, paper ballots, absentee ballots, statements of canvass, absentee ballot applications and absentee ballot registers.

RPNM and Garcia Holmes want to have ballots checked.

“There are questions that still persist in this election that involve election integrity, and we must look closely at what happened here in New Mexico,” said Chairman Steve Pearce.

The Republican Party of New Mexico is also considering impounding ballots in other counties.

NEW MEXICO STATE ETHICS COMMISSION SHOULD INVESTIGATE LIKELY BRIBERY INCIDENT INVOLVING DEMOCRATIC STATE SENATOR

The Republican Party of New Mexico wants answers regarding an apparent criminal incident involving the race for the New Mexico Senate Pro Tem leadership post.

Democratic state Sen. Joseph Cervantes had informed colleagues that he was approached by an unnamed political group to vote for its choice for the leadership position. Cervantes reportedly was told by the group he would get something, possible its political endorsement, in exchange for his vote. Details of that bribe haven’t been revealed.

While we commend Cervantes for reporting this incident, it cannot be ignored, and RPNM is calling for the New Mexico State Ethics Commission to investigate. So far, nothing has happened.

RPNM CALL TO ACTION: contact the NM State Ethics Commission and demand an investigation into this unnamed group’s apparent bribery of New Mexico state senators for political gain. Please email the Commission at: or call them at 505-554-7706.
