John, did you see Nicole's message?
Already, over 16,000 people have added their signature to the petition she sent around on Sunday demanding Congress pass legislation to make high-capacity gun magazines illegal – but we just checked, and it looks like we're still missing your name.
We know this commonsense bill would save precious lives from gun violence, but for well over a year, Congress has refused to vote on it. So, before the new session of Congress begins, we need to put massive pressure on our lawmakers to prioritize passing this critical legislation as soon as they're sworn in.
But we're still short of the 35,000 signatures we need on our petition, and with so many children's lives at stake, we're counting on you to add your name. Will you sign our petition now demanding the new Congress limit the size of gun ammunition magazines?

Subject: 4 minutes, 154 bullets
John,
The shooter who murdered my beautiful butterfly Dylan took ten 30-round gun magazines into Sandy Hook Elementary. It only took him approximately four minutes to shoot 154 bullets, killing 20 students and six educators.
In an instant, my baby boy was gone forever.
But in the time it took the shooter to pause and reload between magazines, 11 children were able to escape. I can't help but think about how, if those magazines were limited to just a fraction of the rounds, Dylan might still be alive today.
That's why I need your help right now. More than a year ago, a bill was introduced in Congress to limit the size of ammunition magazines to 10 rounds – but lawmakers have refused to vote on it. Now, with a new Congress about to be sworn in, we must make sure this lifesaving bill is one of their top priorities.
Children's lives are at risk every day our leaders waste. So please, will you sign our petition to help us reach 35,000 signatures this week to demand the new Congress take action as soon as they're sworn in to limit the size of gun magazines?

Dylan continues to be a light in my life, and I will spend the rest of my days building a legacy for him that ensures his light continues to shine. By helping me in this work to protect children like him from gun violence, you're making that legacy possible.
Thank you so much – it truly means the world to me.
With love,
Nicole Hockley (Dylan's mom)
