"House Passes Landmark Bill Decriminalizing Marijuana"

The House passed the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act to decriminalize cannabis. Add your name to call on the Senate to vote on this historic and necessary legislation.

John —

I feel proud. After decades of activists calling for justice, I had the honor of voting 'yes' on the MORE Act to decriminalize cannabis at the federal level and expunge nonviolent federal marijuana convictions.

This also included my own Homegrown Act, which ensures small businesses and communities of color are able to share in the success of the booming cannabis industry.

John, the prosecution of minor cannabis offenses has led to the disproportionate incarceration of Black and brown men and women. This so-called "War on Drugs" has had a lasting negative effect on our schools, our communities, and our families.

Passing the MORE Act through the House is a huge step toward ensuring those affected by the so-called "War on Drugs" would be able to get their lives back. Now, it's on the Senate to move this legislation forward. If, like me, you agree it's time we decriminalize cannabis, add your name to call on the Senate to act.

It's our moral obligation to ensure our communities have real opportunities to participate in the booming — and profitable — cannabis industry.

When we legalize cannabis, we also legitimize cannabis-related business. The MORE Act is a jobs bill AND criminal justice reform bill — it will give a boost to our local economies and impose a 5 percent federal tax to benefit the MORE Act trust fund.

We can right our past wrongs. More than just legalization, the MORE Act is about racial equality, economic justice, and ensuring local neighborhoods can participate in the profitable industry as well. Period.

Will you join me in supporting the MORE Act? Add your name next to mine to demand the Senate bring this bill to a vote.

Thank you,

Dwight
