TAKE ACTION End Climate Change, End Hunger Photo credit: Andrea Carri Hi there,
Climate change is creating a hunger epidemic but, in days, Dutch leaders could decide on a plan to stop the starvation.
The climate emergency is causing our oceans to warm, and natural disasters like droughts and floods, all of which threaten our food supply. Smallholder farmers have been adopting new climate-friendly technologies to mitigate climate change, but they’re also on the frontlines personally facing-down drought and hunger.
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) needs better funding to help farmers and to mitigate the climate crisis — and that’s where we can have a real impact! If thousands of Global Citizens all sign the petition and then tweet at the Netherlands’ Foreign Minister, Sigrid Kaag, we could win new funds for IFAD and help millions of farmers. Smallholder farmers are responsible for only 5% of the earth’s emissions, but IFAD is helping farmers use better techniques and technologies to reduce their carbon footprint because everyone and every industry have a role to play in protecting our planet.
Millions of people who sustainably farm their land have slowly been affected by a changing climate, losing crop yields and their livelihoods. IFAD works to keep land fertile and people fed while mitigating the climate crisis. Wealthy countries like the Netherlands can help by funding IFAD. Click now to sign the petition, then tweet directly at Minister Kaag.
With hope,
Ari and the Global Citizen team
