Dear John,
Over the past few weeks, Joe Biden has announced who he’s selecting for top positions in his administration, including Secretaries of Treasury and Defense, health officials who will lead his administration’s response to the pandemic, and economic advisors who will help him address the oncoming Covid recession.
And he’s in the process of appointing several hundred other people who will be critical to what his administration gets done over the next four years.
But as I discovered during my own time as a cabinet secretary, not all these people will wield the same amount of power.
Our latest video gives you an inside look at who really holds the power in an administration, breaking down the different categories of presidential appointments and laying out which ones you need to pay attention to. [[link removed]]

All of the people who will make up Biden’s administration — cabinet members, White House advisers, and special appointees who run task forces — formally answer to the president.
But they work for the people, for you.
Let’s make sure Biden’s appointees never forget who they work for.
Thanks for watching,
Robert Reich
