Dear Friend,
In March, when the coronavirus pandemic hit, our staff went to work remotely, devising new ways of addressing pressing legal issues to make sure that no client fell through the cracks. We successfully advocated for strong protections for renters hit hard economically by the pandemic and called on schools to halt expulsions after the shelter-in-place order. We made sure that foster children could safely connect with their families and called for improved conditions in Santa Clara County jails to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
In May, following George Floyd’s death, and the deaths of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade and so many other Black Americans before and since, our country’s collective consciousness was reborn. A significantly larger swath of our community recognizes that our institutions and systems must be overhauled to ensure that everyone receives equitable treatment under the law.
There is more work to do. When you support the Law Foundation, you help ensure that everyone in Silicon Valley has access to justice, regardless of race or socioeconomic status. When our community members are facing the toughest challenges of their lives, together we are there to empower them.
