John,
We cannot allow Congress to adjourn for the year without passing a critically needed COVID relief bill.
That’s why, together, 33,000 of us have written letters to each of our two U.S. Senators in the last week, demanding a bipartisan bill that increases Pandemic Unemployment Compensation beyond the $300/week in the proposal so far; includes rental assistance and an extension of the evictions moratorium; increases funds for nutrition assistance for hungry children, families and the poor; and provides help to ensure parents who’ve lost wages due to the pandemic don’t see their Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit cut by thousands of dollars.
We must keep up the pressure. We cannot allow Mitch McConnell to, once again, stand in the way of a bipartisan effort to support millions of working and low-income families as we head into what will likely be the darkest months of the pandemic.

After months of Senate leadership failing to act on a pandemic response, a compromise bill is finally within reach. We can’t let up now.
Thank you for always fighting for those most in need.

--DEBORAH'S EMAIL--
John,
After months of failing to act on critical COVID relief, Congress might be on the verge of an agreement. A bipartisan group of senators has come up with a $908 billion plan intended to get us through March. Speaker Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Schumer are negotiating to make some improvements to the package.
With hunger and long-term joblessness increasing, and unemployment benefits and the eviction moratorium expiring by the end of this month, there is no time to waste: Congress must act now.
Already, approximately 32,000 people have written to their U.S. Senators, demanding that a bipartisan COVID relief bill support millions of households and communities as we head into what will likely be the most difficult months of the pandemic yet.
It’s possible a COVID agreement could be voted on this week. But we need maximum pressure on Senators to make sure the deal does not fall through. Write to your U.S. Senators right now and call on them to respond to this national health and economic crisis by building on the bipartisan proposal.
The bipartisan proposal offers $300 per week in Pandemic Unemployment Compensation. Benefits were $600 per week until they expired in July; increasing them beyond $300 would help millions of unemployed people.
The bipartisan plan includes some rental assistance; it also needs to extend the moratorium on evictions. A final deal should also increase funds for nutrition assistance and make sure that parents who’ve lost earnings due to the pandemic don’t see their Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit cut by thousands of dollars. There is funding for education and other state and local services, but more is needed.
With poverty rates on the rise, unemployment rates stuck at nearly 7%―and much higher for women and people of color―it’s up to us to make our voices heard now and fight for a bill that supports those most in need as we head into dangerous winter months ahead.
Click here to write to your Senators today and tell them to pass a bipartisan pandemic relief package that doesn’t leave millions of working and low-income families behind.
Together, our coalition is fighting for the human needs of everyone in the U.S., particularly at this difficult and dangerous time.
Thank you,
