John,
Today, the Hyde Amendment is being discussed by the U.S. House Labor, Health, & Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Subcommittee.
The Hyde Amendment was put in place after Roe vs. Wade to appease the anti-abortion movement and politicians by preventing federal funds from being used to cover abortions. It was a compromise to the disadvantage of the health and safety of those already marginalized in the health system -- mostly Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ folks -- who are still without reproductive justice.
Hyde is deeply rooted in racism, and as the Chair of the Congressional Pro-Choice caucus, Diana has been fighting against Hyde and its consequences for years -- and members of the committee need to hear your voice.
We've set a goal to get 600 signatures from our supporters by THIS Thursday. Sign on now to tell the committee that you want to see the backward and racially unjust Hyde Amendment repealed. Add your name next to Diana's and millions of fellow Americans NOW.
