Bernie Sanders is organizing his fellow Senators to rally behind adding $1,200 direct payments to all Americans into the COVID-19 relief bill currently being negotiated behind closed doors in Congress.
The current proposal lacks any direct stimulus checks for the American people, and it gives full legal immunity to corporations that put their workers’ lives at risk.

I Agree With Bernie
As the United States rapidly approaches 300,000 deaths from COVID-19, most Americans have still only received a single $1,200 stimulus check — and that was more than 250 days ago.
Mitch McConnell’s Republican Senate has repeatedly blocked further relief, but this latest bipartisan deal is being supported by corporate Democratic Senators who disagree with Bernie about the urgency of stimulus payments to help working class families put food on the table.
Democratic Senator Mark Warner went on CNN to insist that Bernie is wrong for demanding direct payments to struggling Americans suffering as this pandemic drags on. Maybe Warner and the corporate donors he serves are ok without direct relief, but the rest of us back here in reality are not.
