Hi John,

NBC’s Jodi Enda had some honest words for us as we reflect on the diversity within Biden’s upcoming administration: “For its entire history, America has overlooked -- discriminated against -- the majority of its residents. In service to white men, our nation has squandered much of its talent, tamped down ambitions and, as a result, underachieved.”

Despite Biden’s commitment to upholding diversity when forming his Cabinet, this system of power holds true today.

Women are consistently left out of the political conversation -- and it comes at a great cost. As Enda explains, “women are more often focused on issues such as health care, pay equity and education, which directly affect their families, and are more concerned about equality for immigrants and people of color. The benefits of these differing priorities are visible in the legislative branch.”

But they’re not visible enough -- not when men outnumber women by nearly five to one in Congress. When only 54 women have ever served in a presidential Cabinet. When the concept of a Madam President still seems too far off.

John, it’s past time we reject the old boys’ club notion in politics and bring women to the political forefront. That’s why we’re so focused on meeting, and exceeding, every fundraising goal to support as many women as possible who are bringing change to this system.
