Caregiving has always been essential work, and nobody knows that better than us. Recovery from COVID and the subsequent economic crisis cannot happen without centering care — the work that makes all other work possible. We need Congress to swiftly and decisively lead with care as COVID cases rise. Our families desperately need relief.

More than 280,000 people have died of COVID this year, many are aging adults and people with disabilities. And COVID shows no signs of stopping in these winter months, continuing the strain on our caregiving families. We deserve better. People who need care should be able to get it in the care setting of their choice! Families should have support moving loved ones out of dangerous nursing homes. And care workers should have safeguards in place, like having access to PPE. Plus, we need more funding to expand access to home-and-community based services, so that more people can access care and live with dignity in their homes.

It has been too long since Congress passed the last relief bill. All of us have been struggling through this pandemic the best that we can. Sandwich generation caregivers are drowning as they manage school from home and handle aspects of caregiving for their parents — from managing bills from afar to helping parents take medication. Care workers are stretched thin, dividing their time between the underpaid and undervalued work they do and caring for their own families.

Call Congress today and demand better for all caregivers!

We need to flood Congress with calls now so they know we’re not letting them off the hook. Caregivers and care workers have always been essential — it’s time Congress recognize that.
