With negotiations over a year-end COVID-relief package entering the 11th hour, BPC urges lawmakers to reach a compromise on an additional relief package before the end of 2020 that prioritizes measures that would most directly aid in the fight against COVID-19 and its economic fallout.

 

In this blog, Ben Gitis, Rayven Vinson, and Mariette Aborn elevate the impact of COVID-19 on working families. They recommend extending emergency Unemployment Insurance and paid leave benefits into next year in order to support displaced workers and help Americans balance work, family, and health during the pandemic. As the country continues to grapple with the economic fallout from COVID-19, BPC lays out a practical agenda for the incoming Congress and Administration aimed at promoting financial resilience and wealth creation, supporting work and expanding opportunity, and helping children and families.
