DACA is restored!

Last week a district court judge cancelled the government's memos that limited DACA, and thus, fully restored the DACA program. This is a huge victory for and in large part by young immigrants. Check out our frequently asked questions about the ruling and what it means for DACA recipients.

 

Government rejecting correctly filed immigration applications

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has been rejecting correctly filed applications and citing ridiculous reasons, like not including evidence that isn’t required or leaving an optional field blank that doesn’t apply to the person. Many immigrants depend on these applications and their senseless denials are just plain cruel. On our blog, an NIJC staffer explains how this has a huge impact on her clients' lives. Read more.

 

Still fighting for others: Samer’s story

In 2009, Samer was undocumented and had been cast out from his abusive family because he was gay, and he came to NIJC for legal assistance. He has come a long way in the past ten years—a journey that included going to Columbia University, meeting Bill Gates, and advocating for inclusive policies for all who call the U.S. home.
