POLITICO: "Republicans are digging deep into donor pockets as they fight to protect their endangered Senate majority, with the price tag for two Georgia runoffs already eclipsing $300 million, putting them among the most expensive elections ever."

Karl Rove -- the same man who once suggested Hillary Clinton had brain damage and refused to accept the results of Obama's re-election on November 6, 2012 -- is running the GOP money machine in Georgia and according to POLITICO, has now upped his goal to raise $2.4 million a week to take down the two Democrats we need to flip the Senate.

But there's a silver lining. The fact that the GOP is scrambling to raise millions before the runoff races shows just how scared they are. As The Washington Post reports, "Republican leaders are increasingly alarmed about the party's ability to stave off Democratic challengers in Georgia's two Senate runoff elections."

We're glad our grassroots activism is starting to make the GOP sweat. But they're responding to small-dollar donations with massive dark money deluges from the biggest names in the game. As POLITICO further reports, "outside groups have poured significant money into the runoffs already. Senate Leadership Fund and American Crossroads, two groups led by allies of Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, have already spent or booked $80 million combined for the races."

The fact is, the GOP wants so badly to avenge their loss at the top of the ticket that they're putting together a dark-money firewall to guard these southern seats -- and if we don't respond accordingly, our shot at Congress is lost.
