John,
I have trained future candidates for many organizations. But when I started training for New American Leaders back in 2014, I knew I had found something different.
I saw a room full of immigrants and refugees, and the children of immigrants and refugees. Their families had the guts to journey here and resettle in the U.S. for the promise of a better future. Now they were here to put their passion for justice and their interest in democracy into action. As an Indian American kid from a small town in Texas, I knew I had found my people.
These are your people, too. No matter what your background, you share our vision of American democracy where people of all backgrounds can run and win. With your support [[link removed]] , our alumni learn to harness the power of their immigrant stories, mobilize marginalized communities to vote, and be leaders in office for justice.
Today, as the Chair of the Board of Directors for New American Leaders, I am proud to see my earliest NAL trainees in office. NAL's unique approach is what helped put them in office and why I am proud to join people like you in giving to NAL [[link removed]] . It is hard to put yourself out there and run for office, and it is even harder to stay in office. Like our ancestors, our alumni have grit and dedication, but without your gift [[link removed]] , they may have not run at all.
In this moment, it's more important than ever that we have their backs. Can we count on you to help us train even more leaders in 2021? [[link removed]]
Your donation of $100, $50, $25 or your best gift [[link removed]] will help us train people like us across the country in 2021.
Thank you for being a member of our movement! We couldn't have done it without you!
In Solidarity,
Parag Mehta
