Dear Friends,
There were 172 SCC members who voted in last night's virtual election.
Chairman Steve Pearce won re-election with 76 votes. Eddy Aragon received 47, Geoffrey Snider got 41 and Eric Lucero received 8.
At first, Chairman Pearce appeared to have won by a single vote, but a coding error by election software company TXT2VOTE revealed the Chairman had won by 29 votes. The tallying error happened because the company had mistakenly failed to include CD3 votes for Pearce, while adding CD3 votes twice for Aragon and Snider.
Andrea Moore, running for CD1 Vice-Chair, received 30 votes, as a similar error was made by not tabulating votes in CD2.
TXT2VOTE, a well-respected company that's done virtual elections in other states, admitted the mistake, and it was immediately corrected.
The following is a statement today from TXT2VOTE CEO Lee Durham:
"We discovered an error in our tabulation that incorrectly stated final tallies. Upon discovering this error we immediately re-tabulated the votes and provided the corrected results. While the candidate results were accurate, and the re-stated corrected tabulation did not affect the outcome of the election, we want you to know the candidate's ranking of final order was not changed. We sincerely apologize for this error in presenting last night’s results and appreciate everyone’s understanding the challenges."
Because of the error by TXT2VOTE, they have made the secret ballots available for you to view and hand count should you choose to do so.

Thank you.
