What it means for you and your family

Dear John,

Today has been a great day in our fight against COVID-19.

This morning, Margaret Keenan from Coventry become the first person in the world to get the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine as part of the UK vaccination programme. It is a fantastic milestone for the country and the world. You can view the historic footage here. ([link removed])

This afternoon, the First Minister announced that the Scottish Borders will be moving to Covid protection level 1 from Friday at 6pm. Some of the changes mean that:
* You can meet with up to eight people from three households outdoors
* Alcoholic drinks can be served without a meal
* Hospitality businesses can stay open until 10.30pm
* Soft play centres and snooker halls can reopen their doors to customers

Full guidance on what you can and cannot do can be found here. ([link removed])

This is great news for businesses that can reopen and for pubs and restaurants who can get closer to normal trading. Nevertheless, it is important that we all stick to the rules over the coming weeks to help drive down the virus here in the Borders.

As ever, do let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Yours sincerely,

John
