Dear John:
Because of you, LULAC can give people the resources to purchase groceries and essential items they need to face this devastating time. On behalf of them, thank you for your commitment to supporting LULAC in our fight to advance the civil rights of 60 million Latinos in the US and Puerto Rico. This past year, LULAC directly provided relief to 14,000 people, contributed laptops to 400 students, hosted Hunger Relief efforts, and provided groceries to over 6,000 individuals in need.
As a valued supporter, you may be looking for the best options to make a charitable contribution this year to send a powerful message to Latinos facing challenging times that they are not alone.
Here are several exciting and beneficial ways you can give back to the community:
- Donate Online. Your gift may qualify as a charitable income tax deduction that can be used to itemize your deductions. Envelopes must be postmarked by December 31st to utilize the deduction on your 2020 taxes.
- If you are 70 ½ years of age or older, have your IRA or 401K plan administrator send your required minimum distribution directly to LULAC Institute. This option does not qualify for a charitable deduction, but you will not have to report the distribution as income on your tax return.
- If you’re using Amazon to purchase gifts, consider using Amazon Smile and selecting LULAC Institute as the charity.
As we move into the season of giving, I hope you will take a few moments to consider these opportunities. With your continued support and commitment to LULAC Institute, we can reach our goals of providing community-based programs to families to advance education, health, and economical attainment in the US and Puerto Rico.
Best wishes to you and yours this holiday season. Stay safe and wear your mask.
