Hi John, Right now, Congress is debating must pass spending bills to keep our government running and a relief package to help American families and businesses. Kids are counting on you and me to speak up to ensure that programs that help them succeed – like preschool, quality child care and Head Start – receive the funding they need. Please urge your members of Congress to support funding for these vital programs! The pandemic has created so many challenges for our nation’s kids. Critical early education programs are now even further out of reach for kids living in poverty as thousands of programs have had to close their doors. It’s gotten so bad that researchers believe that kids are falling behind in these early years.[1] That’s a big problem because kids who don’t start kindergarten ready to learn are more likely to drop out of high school and struggle to find a job when they grow up. It’s urgent that we act today for kids’ futures! As a dad myself, I know that parents are their children’s first and best teachers. But while moms and dads are working, they need to know their kids are in a place where they are safe and learning. Unfortunately, more child care providers have had to close their doors as costs increase and enrollment is down. This leaves parents with few affordable options. Families are experiencing this new child care crisis differently. In rural areas, child care closures are even more challenging due to the already limited supply. And Black and multiracial families are twice as likely to experience job disruptions related to a lack of child care.[2] For our nation’s kids, families and economy, Congress must act. It’s critical that they hear from you today, John! Will you send a quick message to Congress today? Thank you for being a voice for kids, |
