Hi there,

Imagine a group of people the size of the city of South Bend, Indiana or Boulder, Colorado had to check into the hospital on the same day. Every single person.

Well, the Covid Tracking Project says that’s just about how bad this pandemic has gotten. On Monday, their data showed 101,501 people were hospitalized with the coronavirus across the United States -- that is simply unprecedented. From the east to the west, our hospitals are running out of staff, beds, and supplies.

Our doctors, nurses, and public health experts are all telling us the same thing: we cannot continue at this pace. “Covid fatigue” or no, staying at home and behaving responsibly has never been more crucial. That’s why the CDC is urging Americans “to stay at home and not travel” this holiday season.

Unfortunately, some of our fellow Americans haven’t gotten the message. Data analyzed by NPR showed more than one in eight Americans traveled “a significant distance” over the recent Thanksgiving holiday. That’s just a couple percentage points lower than in 2019.

There’s no doubt about it: Every single one of us has to be on board to contain this virus as it spirals out of control. Please, add your name now to build a consensus:

Are you staying home over the holidays to help contain the virus?

YES   NO

Thank you for providing your crucial input.
