These events will be held at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel on three consecutive days. You may register to attend one, two, or all three of these conferences, and hotel rooms are available for your stay. Read on to learn more about each of these conferences. Seating is limited—register today to ensure you get to come to these great opportunities. Coalitions Rising Prevention is an ever-changing field with new developments and practices emerging regularly. Over time, new substances emerge that must be contended with, community norms evolve and affect risk and protective factors, old grants dry up and new ones are created, and evidence-based practices emerge. As practitioners in prevention, it can be difficult to stay on top of these changes and to incorporate them into your efforts. Prevention Action Alliance, in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, created Coalitions Rising to bring together community coalitions, behavioral healthcare providers, youth-led prevention groups, and others to equip them with best practices for prevention. Coalitions Rising will bring national and state leaders in prevention to present on a variety of topics, including how to put cultural competency at the core of your work in prevention, sustainable funding practices, and how to engage key partners such as Ohio’s faith leaders and the Ohio National Guard, among other topics. This one-day conference in Columbus, Ohio, will be held at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel on December 4, 2019. Register today for Coalitions Rising on Eventbrite. We will apply for Continuing Education from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board, the Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, and National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Prior to Tuesday, November 12th, you can also book a hotel room at the hotel at a discounted rate. After registering for Coalitions Rising, you’ll receive an email with a discount code for $25 off registration for the Prevention Action & Advocacy Summit on Vaping. They’re working to improve their homes, schools, and communities. As adult allies, it’s our job to support them. Adult allies are crucial to the success of youth-led prevention. They educate young people in evidence-based strategies for prevention, empower them to create change in their communities, and advocate on behalf of them with school and community leaders. Prevention Action Alliance, in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs at Ohio University, created the Ohio Adult Allies Summit to inform the work of adult allies who in turn empower youth leaders in prevention. This year's Ohio Adult Allies Summit will feature discussions and presentations on improving mental health outcomes for vulnerable youth, building resilient youth and communities, and preventing suicide and substance use through youth-led programs. This one-day summit in Columbus, Ohio will be held at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville-Polaris Hotel on December 6, 2019.
