John,

Did you hear the great news? Joe Biden just nominated gun safety champions California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to lead the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Dr. Vivek Murthy to be the U.S. Surgeon General.

These nominations put our country on a path to a safer America, where we use science, facts, and research to protect our health and prevent senseless tragedies and bloodshed. The 40,000 lives that we lose to gun violence each year can be prevented if our leaders act. Now, we need to show that we support an administration that believes gun violence is a public health crisis and is ready to take action to save lives.

John, we want to congratulate Xavier Becerra and Dr. Vivek Murthy on their well-deserved nominations! We need to show both leaders that they have our full support — will you send a quick message of congratulations to them? >>>

Both Dr. Vivek Murthy and AG Xavier Becerra have taken on the NRA and won, time and time again. Dr. Murthy stood up to the gun lobby during his tenure in the Obama administration, and AG Becerra has tirelessly fought to protect California's role as a national model for common-sense gun laws. They both will bring this fierce determination and deep understanding of gun violence as a public health issue to their leadership. I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish.

With hope,

Christian Heyne
Vice President of Policy
