We Need to Pass Critical Coronavirus Relief for Hoosiers

It’s now December and we still don’t have a coronavirus relief package for the American people. People are hurting. They are beyond frustrated with this whole exercise. Republicans have put forward a package that can actually be signed into law. One that provides assistance to schools and students, one that provides assistance to our hard-hit small businesses, one that provides additional resources for testing. Why don’t we go ahead and pass what we can all agree upon? What we know can be signed into law? And then negotiate, and debate, and give further consideration to additional measures.

Stomach Cancer Awareness Month Resolution Passes Senate

Stomach cancer is the fifth most common type of cancer worldwide and one of the most difficult to detect in its early stages. Last week, the Senate passed my resolution to support more education of patients and health care providers and more research into early diagnosis, screening, and treatment. In a year where so much of our health care conversation has revolved around the current pandemic, it’s also important to continue to raise awareness about diseases that have afflicted Americans for decades. It is my hope that our third annual resolution will bring awareness to stomach cancer so that we can detect and treat this disease sooner and save more lives. The complete text of the resolution can be found here.

NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award

As the son of a small business owner, I know how important small enterprises are to our economy. I will always fight to support Indiana’s small businesses, especially during the difficult times they have faced this year due to the pandemic. As we continue working to combat the coronavirus pandemic, ensuring small businesses have the ability to stay in operation, and ultimately thrive once again, will be critical to our long-term economic recovery.

Indiana Students Nominated for U.S. Service Academies

Last week, I announced my nominations for U.S. service academy appointments. Applications were received from 160 high school students and out of 70 interviewed, 32 exemplary young men and women from across Indiana received a nomination. These students are highly qualified to serve our country and I’m very proud of their hard work. I wish them the best of luck in their application process.
