John -- The Democratic establishment is at it again. It has recently been announced that Gregory Meeks (who BNC proudly primaried in 2020) is set to replace Eliot Engel (who Jamaal Bowman ousted in 2020) as the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. 

When asked what his first priority for the committee was, Meeks promised the unapologetic support for the agenda of incoming Secretary of State Tony Blinket, “We've got to make sure that the morale is returned there and we get our diplomats back in, and things begin to happen again…” In other words, the status quo of American foreign policy is here to stay, all but ensuring a continuation of the following:
 

• Perpetuation of unnecessary funding to the Pentagon and big defense contracts

• Extension of America’s cycle of endless wars and conflicts, such as Afghanistan

• Preservation of the defense industry that donates millions in campaign contributions to purchase the influence and votes of Congress
   

While this is disappointing, the good news is Brand New Congress has defeated the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee once before and we can do it again! In 2022, opportunity is on our side and the progressive movement has the wind at its sails.  

The D.C.establishment can be counted on for one thing -- maintaining the status quo and putting profits over peace. But your support of Brand New Congress can change this.
