Team,
One year ago yesterday, Chris and his colleagues in the House passed the Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore the protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that were stripped away by the Supreme Court ruling in Shelby v. Holder.
The bill was reintroduced five months ago as the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to honor Congressman John Lewis's legacy of advancing civil rights and voting rights. But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell still refuses to bring the bill to a vote.
If you're with Chris in the fight to protect voting rights, add your name to demand the Senate take up the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act for a vote.
We saw voter suppression run rampant this year.
The right to vote is fundamental to our democracy, and we have a responsibility to ensure everyone can make their voice heard. Passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Act is a critical step to fighting voter suppression and ensuring all eligible voters are granted the same protections under the law.
Sign our petition now to tell Mitch McConnell it's time to hold a vote on the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
Thank you,
Team Pappas
