Hello John,
Asha had fear in her eyes.
In a dimly lit barn, this poor, frail, neglected calf caught my attention.
As I walked toward her, I could see her immense suffering.
I named her Asha, which means ''hope'' in Hindi.
Asha was tightly tethered to the ground—she couldn't move freely. Other calves, who could've been her brothers or sisters, were tightly wound to beams scattered throughout the facility.
This is where Asha, among dozens of buffaloes and other cows, will be kept for her whole life.
Confinement is all she will ever know.
