Today, activists on six continents will go on strike for our climate -- and I'm joining them today in Seattle and Spokane.

This is one of the largest environmental protests in history. It's just like Greta Thunberg says: "If there is one day you should join, this is the day."

I'm proud to join strikers in Seattle and Spokane, especially because we're just a few of the millions striking today. Communities across the country and around the world are taking action during the entire "Week for Future and Climate Justice."

Led by youth climate leaders, people will walk out of school and work to join mass marches and rallies, music concerts, sit-ins, and nonviolent direct action. I'm excited to join the strikers today because I know that here in Washington state, defeating climate change must continue to be our top priority.

In Washington, we are moving off coal by 2025 and moving to 100% clean energy. We've passed a landmark energy efficiency bill for buildings. Our efforts to protect Washington's clean air and water, invest in people's economic security, and stand up for the values of inclusivity and diversity have created thousands of clean energy jobs and made Washington state "the epicenter of resistance to Trump's agenda." And we've only just begun.
