Gun crime is on the rise, and we’re taking common-sense action to strengthen gun control in Canada.
Today, Justin Trudeau announced that a re-elected Liberal government will ban all military-style assault rifles, including the AR-15. To make it harder for legal weapons to fall into the hands of criminals, we will strengthen safe-storage laws. And, we've also said what we won’t do.
We will not bring back the long-gun registry, and we respect Canadian hunters and farmers.
In 2017, there were 2,500 more victims of gun violence than in 2013, and many of these incidents involved domestic partners. That's why we're moving to ban assault weapons and crack down on gun crime.
But we know that Andrew Scheer’s policy on guns has been written by the powerful gun lobby, and he has an agenda that would make it easier for criminals to get their hands on assault rifles.
We need to be ready to stand up to the Conservative Party’s negative attacks. Will you chip in to ensure Canada moves forward with stronger gun control?
