If we win the two Georgia Senate runoff elections on January 5, Democrats will control the House, the Senate, and the White House.
We will be able to make real change in Washington to make our government work for everyone, not just the rich and powerful.
So we need to do everything we can to elect Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in Georgia. Tomorrow evening at 8:30 p.m. Eastern, I'm hosting a virtual grassroots fundraiser to support their campaigns.
By winning these races, we will elect two terrific Democrats who will be strong champions for working people — and we will defeat two GOP senators who are poster children for corruption.
Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue both played down the danger of COVID-19 in public while privately trading stocks to profit from the pandemic. They've lined their own pockets and looked out for billionaires and giant corporations instead of making sure working families and small businesses can get the relief they need during this crisis.
But Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff would put power in the hands of the people — where it belongs.
Raphael was raised in public housing, got help from Pell Grants to get a great education, and became Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, where he preaches from the pulpit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. As a champion for fair wages, he has fought for working families for years.
Jon served Georgia families as an aide on Capitol Hill, was mentored by Congressman John Lewis, helped expose corruption as an investigative journalist, and is ready to fight for health care, clean energy, and economic relief for working people as a U.S. senator.
We have to win these two races to keep Mitch McConnell from running the Senate. And the path to victory has never been clearer, now that Joe Biden has flipped Georgia's electoral votes and leaders like Stacey Abrams have brought Georgians into the fight like never before.
