PFLAG Celebrates THE PROM on Netflix

It's getting close to holiday time, so here's a way to share a little joy and fun!

PFLAG Celebrates THE PROM on Netflix is an exciting broadcast event, with appearances by the film's stars, including Ariana DeBose and Jo Ellen Pellman, and special appearances by Kerry Washington, Keegan-Michael Key, and Andrew Rannells (fun fact: he'll be joining us with his PFLAG mom, Charlotte, from PFLAG Omaha!). We'll also be joined by special guest Chasten Buttigieg, and take YOUR questions during the broadcast.

You won't want to miss this fantastic event, live on PFLAG National's Facebook and YouTube channels. (For closed-captioning, tune in on Facebook.)

So be sure and watch THE PROM, premiering on Netflix this Friday, December 11th, and set a reminder to join us at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Saturday, December 12th. Because everyone deserves a chance to celebrate!

Three Steps to Being a Better Advocate Against Conversion Therapy

Just because you’re staying in doesn’t mean the need for support, acceptance, and affirmation has slowed down. So, stay safe and take these steps to engage:

  1. Learn: Check out PFLAG’s policy statement in opposition of so-called reparative or conversion therapy available at pflag.org/policystatements to start learning more about how such efforts are demonstrably harmful to people who identify as LGBTQ+.
  2. Watch: In May 2020 PFLAG hosted a two-part series on conversion therapy in the US. You can learn more about the history of conversion therapy in the US from our partners at The Mattachine Society of Washington DC and what parents and caregivers can to do to protect youth from such harmful practices from our partners at The Trevor Project.
  3. Share: Use social media to spread the word about The Trevor Project’s 50 Bills 50 States campaign and NCLR’s Born Perfect campaign as a way to start a conversation. You could also talk with your networks about how the recent court decision in Florida has motivated you to get more involved during the 2021 legislative session.
