John,

Today across the United States and the world, millions of people -- young
and old -- are going on strike for climate action, and DFA stands in
solidarity as a partner of the Climate Strike.

In three days, world leaders will convene in New York City for the UN
Climate Summit: an opportunity for us to get their attention and demand
the bold, rapid action we need to stop the very worst impacts of climate
change.

This massive, international coalition of organizations and activists is
first and foremost being led by our nation’s youth, and they have demands
for those in power:

* Pass the Green New Deal to transform the U.S. into a 100% renewable
energy economy;
* Respect indigenous land sovereignty by honoring treaties and
recognizing the Rights of Nature;
* Fight for environmental justice by welcoming, investing in, and
assisting those disproportionately displaced and harmed by the climate
crisis;
* Protect and restore 50% of the world’s lands and oceans, and put a
halt to all deforestation by 2030;
* Implement sustainable agriculture by investing in farmers and
regenerative practices, and ending subsidies to big industrial
agriculture.

Only by taking these ideas and turning them into action can we create a
world that works for all of us and stop the worst case scenario of climate
catastrophe.

globe: find and attend a Climate Strike event in your community today.
