Friends,

Enrique Tarrio, a Proud Boys leader, along with Infowars creator Alex Jones, led hundreds of Trump supporters in a ‘Stop the Steal’ rally outside Georgia’s Capitol building while ballots were being recounted.

“The fraud’s been proven,” Jones insisted to the crowd. “It’s the same formula all across the country.”

The spreading of the baseless, dangerous idea of widespread voter fraud in this election isn’t all we have to fear from this violent, far-right group. Given their track record of showing up prepared to battle their ‘antifa enemies,’ any one of their rallies could transform into a dangerous altercation.

With all key states having certified Joe Biden’s win, the Proud Boys will have to move on from their recount efforts -- and will likely set their sights on the impending special elections in Georgia that will determine control of the next Senate.

We cannot let these racists masquerading as patriots stop us from flipping the Senate -- which, if November 3 was any indication, is exactly what they’ll try to do. Proud Boys and Trump supporters nationwide descended upon polls and intimidated voters (particularly voters of color) from voting for Joe Biden. Fortunately, their efforts were in vain, but we can’t take for granted that history will repeat itself on January 5.

The team at ASPIRE is committed to supporting progressive candidates of color and protecting our democratic process from the forces that threaten it. But we can’t fight against this kind of evil if we’re not at our strongest -- and right now, we’re running low on funds. In fact, we’re $2,917 short of our grassroots fundraising goal.
