John,

Last Friday, Congress took a historic step forward by voting to decriminalize marijuana.

For too long, the prosecution of minor marijuana offenses has led to the disproportionate incarceration of Black and brown communities across the country, creating a ripple effect of negative impacts for countless individuals, their families, and their communities.

That’s why I voted to pass the MORE Act, which would decriminalize cannabis at the federal level and expunge nonviolent federal marijuana convictions.

This bill isn’t just about legalizing marijuana. It takes a series of steps to provide restorative justice for those disproportionately hurt by the war on drugs, especially Black and Brown communities, make the modern day cannabis industry more equitable, and invest in our communities.

With more than a dozen states having decriminalized marijuana, and many more on the way, this is an idea whose time has come. But Mitch McConnell’s Republican-controlled Senate has signaled they want to keep the status quo.

If you agree it’s time the United States finally decriminalize marijuana and provide restorative justice, add your name alongside mine in support of the MORE Act now.

The more public pressure we build in support of this reform, the more likely we can bring it up for a vote in the Senate and make it law.

Thanks,

Adam
