We want your submission for our 2020 playlist.

ACLU Supporter, we're nearly there: the end of 2020. And while we know this isn't a year most of us would put on repeat, there were still many hard-won battles worth recognizing.

Passionate activists like you ensured the ACLU was there to defend civil liberties at every turn and in every crisis. And that's why we're dedicating this email – and an end-of-year playlist you can help build <[link removed]> – all to you.

Because together – we, the people, of 2020 – protected all our rights:

The impact of the pandemic hit swiftly. And while most of us took action to protect the health of family and friends, the ACLU also worked to ensure the burdens of the outbreak did not unfairly fall on the most vulnerable – protecting immigrant communities, people who are incarcerated, as well as the abortion and privacy rights of us all. We've filed 200 legal actions and counting since the outbreak began.

In the wake of countless Black lives lost at the hands of police – George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and too many others – an outpouring of protesters took to the streets, led by Black activists and grassroots groups. Our team mobilized at every level, filing lawsuits against police attacks on demonstrators and pushing lawmakers to pass bold reform for racial justice. We took over 20 legal actions against unconstitutional law enforcement attacks against protesters, journalists, legal observers, and protest medics.

This November's election was one of the most consequential of our time, and people from every corner of the nation voted like it. But it was also rife with attempts to suppress votes and disenfranchise Americans during a global pandemic. We fought tirelessly to safeguard the voting rights of millions in court and Congress, and in the end, democracy persisted. Our legal and advocacy teams won 28 voting rights victories nationwide this year.

ACLU Supporter, you enabled the ACLU to continue at full force through all of this, which is why we wanted to help you end the year on a more upbeat note – with a 2020 playlist made for, and by, the people.

It's easy to contribute: Tell us what song kept you going this year and we could include it in our final ACLU Spotify playlist. <[link removed]>

And no matter what, thank you for being part of our community.

For our rights and what's ahead,

The ACLU Team
