This past week, our Seattle DSA membership voted on a series of resolutions for our chapter. All four resolutions discussed were passed with an overwhelming majority. We will be setting up an internal Black reparations fund, to build solidarity within the working class by developing radical Black leadership within SDSA. We are supporting the Kshama Solidarity Campaign, to defend socialist city councilmember Kshama Sawant from a right-wing recall attempt. And we’ll also begin planning protests, in coalition, on Biden’s inauguration day to demand a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and COVID-19 relief. To join the chapter discussion and find out more about the resolutions passed, join our chapter Slack! (To join, just forward your welcome email from Maria Svart to [email protected].)
At our January chapter meeting, we’ll discuss two resolutions from members that we were unable to discuss last week. We’ll be discussing a resolution to prioritize DSA National’s Campaign for a Green New Deal, as well as a Socialist Program for Seattle’s 2021 Elections. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, January 5 from 7 - 9PM: you won’t want to miss it!
Divest SPD Teach-In!
Are you curious about joining the Divest SPD campaign? Come on out to Divest SPD’s teach-in this Sunday, December 13th from 3 - 4:30PM. Seattle DSA’s Divest SPD working group will be hosting a teach-in for people to learn about the ins and outs of our campaign — what is the Seattle Police Foundation and why we are targeting them, how we came to choose the Seattle Foundation (a large philanthropic organization) as our first target, how all this relates to building a socialist future, and much more.
Sunday, December 13th from 3 - 4:30PM

Green New Deal: Spreading the (g)Love
Do you have a pair of gloves or mittens someone gave you, and you’ve just never worn them? Or do you have too many pairs of gloves sitting around? Let us take them off your hands this week!
The Green New Deal working group is giving gloves to people as a part of our action to support a People’s Bailout and a Green Stimulus on Saturday, December 12. We’ll arrange a time to pick them up or give you a drop off address via this form.
Want to be a part of the action on 12/12? Slack #green_new_deal_eo or email [email protected]. We are trying to be safe and socially-distant, but we would love your help!
Senator Phone Zap: Monday, December 14th
Did you know neither of Washington’s Democratic Senators support emergency healthcare during the pandemic? And neither of them support a Green New Deal jobs program to decarbonize the economy, even with millions of people unemployed? They just don’t get it! Join us to demand that they support working people, not their big donors, on Monday, December 14th. We’ll provide the script and training/instructions. Sign up for a phone zap shift!
In solidarity,
Seattle DSA
