The Washington Post: “As daily covid-19 deaths climb to levels not seen since early in the pandemic, nine states have hit one more grim marker: more than 1 in every 1,000 people dead of coronavirus-related causes.”

In the face of such calamity, President-elect Biden is already preparing for increased public health measures he’ll put in place when he takes office. But his proposals for robust social distancing guidelines and other safety measures are already facing opposition.

Some GOP governors, like South Dakota’s Gov. Kristi Noem, have expressed loud resistance to widespread mask mandates. Noem has even continued to encourage mass gatherings as her state’s cases (and death rates) skyrocket.

It’s abundantly clear: We need to support Democrats nationwide who are fighting tooth and nail to protect the health of the American people. It’s the only way we’ll have any hope of controlling the virus. When Democrats Turn Out is dedicated to supporting progressive leaders as they listen to scientific experts and lead us out of the pandemic -- but we’re running low on the funds we need to do so.

 

We know you’ve been frustrated by Trump’s egregious coronavirus response -- and we know you’re worried that his anti-science legacy will live beyond his presidency, just like we are.
