The Chamber wrote a letter to the County Board encouraging them to accept the proposed amendment to the Arlington County Zoning Ordinance to permit outdoor cafes in zones R-C.The Chamber believes this will enhance the vibrancy and streetscape near the Ballston, Virginia Square, and Courthouse metro stations.

Additionally, the Chamber called on members of the Congressional Delegation for Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia to push forward the passage of a FY2021 omnibus spending package and additional economic relief. The continued rise of COVID-19 positive patients combined with a lack of funding is an urgent issue not only spanning the country, but particularly throughout the three jurisdictions that make up our region.

We have heard directly from employers across the Capital Region that they need insight into how other companies are planning to reopen and greater confidence in the region’s transit system in order to safely return employees to worksites. Transportation agencies need to know when employees are expecting to return to worksites to better meet demand.

EY and the Greater Washington Partnership have partnered in a regional transit data project. The project launched on August 12 and is made up of two components: a 10-minute employer survey to collect a snapshot in time of return to worksite plans, and a report of the survey findings after it closes on December 11. The goal is to help our region plan for returning to the office safely.

Password management tends to be one of those activities that most people choose to be lazier with. Thanks to the way that TV and movies poorly portray how most cyber breaches are conducted, people don’t realize the true importance of password discipline. But the one statistic that tells the whole story, is that a whopping 81% of data breaches are a result of password compromise (according to the Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report).
