Dear John,

80 organizations are calling on Biden to end U.S. support for the Yemen war. Can you add your voice too?

Last week CODEPINK organized a letter to Joe Biden that was signed by over 80 organizations, representing millions of people across the United States. We want to believe that Biden, on his own, will keep his campaign trail promise to end US involvement in the Yemen war, but given how urgent the situation is in Yemen, we aren’t taking any chances. We are holding him to it!

Add your name now to our coalition letter to Biden asking him to be true to his word, that he will end U.S. involvement in the war in Yemen.

This a critical moment for the peace movement. Not only will we show the Biden administration that peace is possible, but we will also show them that it is popular. Countless lives have already been lost in Yemen. These are lives that we will never get back, but we can stop more lives from being lost by pushing Biden to be a President for Peace. This means ending the war in Yemen and not appointing warmongerers to the next administration. Tonight, at 8:00 PM EST (5:00 PM EST), we will be hosting a webinar on why Michele Flournoy would be a disastrous choice for the next U.S. Secretary of Defense and efforts underway to block her nomination.

What: Oppose Flournoy for Secretary of Defense
When: Monday, December 7, 8:00 PM EST (5:00 PST)
Where: Zoom and YouTube
cosponsored by World Beyond War

Our coalition letter is bigger than just Yemen. In the letter, we call on Joe Biden to “Heed the bipartisan votes of Congress indicating that the Executive Branch does not have authorization -- as required by our Constitution and the War Powers Act of 1973 -- to participate in the Saudi war in Yemen, and commit to signing a new Yemen War Powers Resolution”. This would mean that not only do we stop US involvement in Yemen, we also stop giving the executive branch the authority to make war on its own. Sign your name to the letter here.

Together we can show the Biden administration that peace is supported by everyday people. This has been long and hard advocacy, but I think we are headed in the right direction.

Toward peace,
Ariel, Danaka, Ann, Angela, Carley, Caty, Cody, Emily, Jodie, Kelsey, Leila, Leonardo, Maxine, Mary, Medea, Nancy, Paki, Teri, and Yousef
