How Do You Steady Yourself in a World of Confusion?
|
|
Not only are the Rocky Mountains beautiful, they’re how we locals find our way around – by figuring out where we are in relation to the mountains. You probably do something similar where you live. You judge your location in relation to some sort of landmark.
An unchanging, fixed point of reference can help you find your way through life, too. Everything about the world around you is changing. You’re changing. Your family is changing. Society is changing. Even opinions about what’s right and wrong are often up for debate.
That’s a lot of upheaval and confusion. What should you do?

An Imperfect Marriage
We pulled into the parking lot, and before I'd even turned into a lane, my wife, Jill, was telling me where I should park. I instantly felt like I was back in high school with my stepdad telling me what to do.
I reeled at the feeling of being parented. I wanted to yell, "I'm smart enough to figure out where to park. I do this many times a day without you!"
A marriage is made up of two imperfect people. And these two imperfect people have to figure out money, sex, parenting, chores – and where to park. They're destined to find all that imperfect togetherness challenging.
