Governor Cuomo’s birthday is just around the corner, and we need New Yorkers like you to help us send him a surprise present.

Here are the details: 

What: Cuomo: Tax Billionaires for Climate Rally

When: Thursday, December 3 at 4:30pm ET

Where: 212 5th Avenue, New York , NY 10010 (the location of Jeff Bezos’ penthouse)

Right now, the State of New York is projecting an estimated budget shortfall of $59 billion.1 This deficit would put key programs like Medicaid at risk of further cuts in addition to critical social programs and climate action. 

But, John, here’s the good news: New York doesn’t need to cut essential programs to respond to the budget deficit. Governor Cuomo can fix this budget shortfall by simply instituting a long overdue wealth tax. 

Taxing the rich means that there will be adequate funds for essential programs like Medicaid, as well as new initiatives like a just transition to 100% renewable energy, ending fossil fuel projects, and creating a publicly owned power grid. But to make that happen, we need New Yorkers like you to make this demand. 

That’s why we’re rallying at 212 5th Avenue tomorrow — the location of billionaire Jeff Bezos’ $96 million penthouse and condo —  to make it clear to Governor Cuomo that the state can support New Yorkers by taxing the rich and using those funds to fight inequality and climate change.
