Dear Friend,

Goose—seen here in his festive winter coat—almost didn't make it to the
holidays.

Last year, he was badly burned when wildfires ravaged California. A PETA
Foundation veterinarian who was helping animal evacuees at a local humane
society met Goose at the shelter. He had sustained burns to all four paws, and
his back was covered with tar from roofing materials that had melted down onto
him. His family lost everything in the fire, including their home and all their
cash savings.

With your support, we covered the cost of his treatment, and our veterinarian
who met him at the shelter fostered him in her home. She thought fostering him
would be temporary until his family got back on their feet. But they were unable
to secure a situation in which he could return to them, so they gave their
blessing for his adoption.

Today, Goose is happy and healthy, chasing balls like a true athlete and
spreading holiday cheer with his fetching smile in the home of the PETA
veterinarian who had fostered him.

This holiday season, please take a moment to think of all the animals like Goose
whose lives have been improved because of your compassion.

Thank you for your support of our work to help animals. The world is a better
place because of you.

Kind regards,

Ingrid E. Newkirk
President

P.S. I know that you share my commitment to help every animal in need. That's
why I hope you'll consider opening your heart even further to animals like Goose this
holiday season by making a special year-end gift
