Dear John,
There’s just two days left to vote for our powerful plastic pollution film The Creature to win an award.
It only takes seconds to vote. Please click on the Facebook like and Twitter icons here >> VOTE NOW [[link removed]]
Back in May, hundreds of thousands of us watched the mysterious Creature wash up on a Cornish beach and shed a tear as it took its last breath, its body choking with plastic pollution. The Creature became the face of the countless animals killed by ocean-wrecking plastic every year, a focal point for our grief.
This was a big, big moment for Surfers Against Sewage. From our base in a small village by the seashore in Cornwall, we sent a clarion call for the ocean all around the world. Now the Creature lives on through its nomination in the London Surf / Film Festival’s ‘The Shorties' [[link removed]] category, one of the most prestigious short film competitions for surf filmmakers in the world.
But we need your help to win! Please Vote for The Creature now >> [[link removed]]
We made The Creature to wake people up. To shock, move and inspire them to join our movement for ocean protection, #GenerationSea. Not only can your vote help win an award, but you’ll also help grab a slot on the billing at the Festival. This would mean we get our gut-wrenching film on the big screen this October, exposing the Creature’s moving story to even more people.
We’re stoked to be nominated alongside 10 outstanding films celebrating surf culture and our planet’s stunning oceans from all over the world. Currently we have over 100 votes, but we need 10 times that to top the viewers’ vote. If you - and the thousands of others reading this email - take one minute out of your day to vote, then we can win it for the ocean.
Yes, I’ll vote for The Creature [[link removed]]
Right now, with plastic pollution and climate breakdown, we could be destroying ocean life faster than we’re able to discover it. Single-use plastic not only suffocates our oceans and kills sea life, but it also fuels the climate crisis - as making and processing plastic releases greenhouse gases at every step.
To protect oceans and our climate, we need to kick our addiction to single-use plastic and change the systems producing it. That’s why it’s so important to find creative ways to reach people and inspire them to protect our oceans and sea life. This award is just that.
With your vote [[link removed]], we could add thousands more people to our movement against avoidable plastic.
Thanks for all you do for oceans,
Hugo
