Powering and heating buildings contributes 28% of global CO2 emissions. While decarbonizing buildings in advanced economies will require retrofits, developing economies can prioritize efficiency in design as new construction grows.

In 2019, 150,000 children worldwide were newly infected with HIV. Lockdowns due to Covid-19 have interrupted the supply of lifesaving medications, limited access to health facilities for antenatal care, and have led to more teenage pregnancies, increasing the likelihood children are born with HIV in 2020.
