What a great
kickoff! Thrilled that they got John, Hahrie, and Shi-Ling.
Staff said something like 4400 people registered. If you have
questions, get them in early and upvote the ones you want answers
to!
Also, Jillian
Romsdahl , did you see that Brett shouted out your EVP
effort? Someone asked about Georgia and Brett gave them http://bit.ly/ccl-evp-ga
Let's keep the conversation going. What breakouts are you planning
to go to?

I wish I could go
to all the breakouts, so I'm glad they're being recorded! Thinking
about attending Getting to Know the Household Impact Study and Prep
for A Great Lobby Meeting today, and then the Sunday Seminar A Lens
Into Race and Climate. The conference is already so
inspiring!

I love this story
that Hahrie Han shares: When FDR was elected president, a union
leader who he was close to as governor as NY provided a laundry
list of asks for the new president. In response, FDR said 'make
me'". As climate advocates, we have to make our politicians care.
And we have to make them care about bipartisan collaboration
too.
PS - I'm sad to see Hahrie Han left my alma mater, UCSB, but I'm
thrilled that it looks like they are near us in Johns
Hopkins!

I am INTO this
Cesar Chavez quote! Talk to one person, then talk to the next
person, then talk to the next person. How many new people do you
talk about climate to every month?
Add this Dolores Huerta quote
“Every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a
potential activist, every minute a chance to change the world.”

I’m in the
Conservative Outreach breakout. One of the conservative fellows was
able to partner with a R candidate to publish Op-Eds all over CO.
So inspiring.

I'm curious about
what Rick Knight mentioned on the pollution impacts of the Energy
Innovation Act on low-income communities. It's so cool to see how
the financial impacts work, but I was also wondering about the
distribution of local environmental impacts and whether they would
continue to disproportionately fall on environmental justice
communities. If anyone has more info about this or resources I
could check out, please send them my way!

Schoder + everyone,
If there was a breakout that you didn't get to watch, but want to--
feel free to post the one you want to watch, and invite others to
join you in a group watch. It's always more fun with people. Y'all
can use my zoom room, just let me know what day and time you'd like
to host which topic watch. They will all be at http://cclusa.org/videos , most
likely by Sunday or Monday.

Wow - the first
day was amazing!! I especially liked and learned the most from the
Keynote Panel and Building Political Will breakout where I attended
the social media session.
This conference is especially meaningful to me because I first
learned about and joined CCL from the June conference of this year.
Now that I've gotten more familiar with CCL and the
climate/environmental space, I think I'm able to better apply my
learning to our chapter and my personal life.
So excited for tomorrow and everything we'll do next year!
