John,

Amelia stood on a hard, feces-covered floor.

Soon to give birth, she was confined to a small, filthy crate.

Crates like this don’t allow pigs like Amelia to turn around or even lie down comfortably.

The lack of space keeps Amelia from resting or doing other things that come naturally, like foraging and rooting.

All Amelia can do, day in and day out, is chew on the metal bars that confine her.

She watched helplessly as workers kicked pigs and cut piglets’ ears and tails. Their pained squeals filled the barn.

For a soon-to-be mother, these squeals are terrifying.

We know Amelia’s story because a brave Mercy For Animals investigator captured the abuse—but there are millions of pigs whose stories will never be told.

Investigations like this allow us to make real changes for pigs like Amelia.

Donate Now

Last month, after four years of demonstrations, hard-hitting investigations, and online pressure from supporters like you, GPA, Brazil’s second-largest retailer, adopted a precedent-setting animal welfare policy.

This policy will put an end to cruel cages and crates that are so small hens and mother pigs can barely move for nearly their entire lives.

You have the power to fight for more change around the globe.

With your donation, we can continue to create compelling campaigns that put pressure on companies like GPA.

When you make a gift to Mercy For Animals today, your gift will be matched!

Pigs like Amelia are counting on you. Your support can change their lives.

With gratitude,

Leah Garcés

P.S. Help pigs like Amelia by donating—your impact will be doubled when you give today!
