John,

The coronavirus pandemic has taken a heavy toll on so many of us this year -- and working families have been hit worst of all.

According to The Washington Post, “experts say it is likely that there’s more hunger in the United States today than at any point since 1998,” with 26 million Americans now saying they don’t have enough to eat as the holidays near.

That fact, coupled with the millions of families facing eviction and struggling to get by with lost wages, is proof that the country is facing a multitude of challenges that will continue into the next administration.

Time and time again, Congress has failed to act on a second relief bill. According to Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans-- who have blocked two Democratic relief bills already -- Americans don’t need an expansive relief bill with a direct stimulus check or child care coverage.

Not only has McConnell blocked additional relief, he has continuously allowed the Senate to break for recess without passing a second relief bill -- a luxury he didn’t think necessary when Republicans needed to vote on Trump’s Supreme Court nominee. We firmly believe that, especially as we near the end of the year, Congress should stay in session as long as it takes to ensure that Americans have additional relief to get them through the difficult winter months. But today, we need to know where you stand:

Does Congress have an obligation to pass a stimulus package before the year ends?
