NO appointees with ties to the fossil fuel industry.
John,
This is an exciting moment in the fight for our climate. For the first time in years, we have a real opportunity to move off fossil fuels and on to a renewable energy future. But President-elect Biden needs to appoint the right people to get the job done.
In order to effectively protect people and the planet, the Biden administration needs to have an administration with ZERO ties to the fossil fuel industry.
President-elect Biden promised to not include members on his transition team that have “been leaders at fossil fuel...companies.” Biden has also said that he wants his cabinet and administration to be the most representative in history, to reflect the American people. Nothing could be less representative of the interests of the people than the destructive and deadly agenda of the fossil fuel industry.
However, there is already talk that Biden is considering cabinet appointments with fossil fuel ties. His promises aren’t guaranteed unless we take action.
Together, we can hold Biden accountable and pressure the incoming administration to make cabinet appointments that are uncompromised and understand the urgent need to move off fossil fuels.
As the climate crisis worsens, giving us little time to turn things around, President-elect Biden will need people who believe in science and facts — not pollution and profit — to avoid further climate catastrophe and fight for the renewable energy future we all deserve.
It’s time for the new administration to take real action to protect our environment. That starts with appointing people with a vision to save our planet before it’s too late.
