Hi friend --

Here's the latest:

-- Mark joined a bi-partisan group of Senate colleagues to propose urgently needed interim coronavirus relief in the Senate this week. He knows that folks across the country cannot wait until Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are in the White House -- they need relief now. This a bi-partisan bridge package that would help people get through the next four months, before we can begin rebuilding our country under the Biden administration. Mark is determined to get this bridge package passed before the Senate moves into recess.

This interim relief package includes funding for:
- Health care providers and health care systems;
- Vaccine development and distribution;
- The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP);
- Student loan forbearance;
- Assistance for rental housing;
- The U.S. Postal Service; and
- Aid for the transportation industry, among other critically needed services.

-- Mark spoke out on the importance of protecting funding for public transportation, like the Metro in the Washington region. He underscored that cuts to Metro service could have a "dramatic effect on the functions of the federal government."

-- Mark led the way on a multi-year effort to heighten cybersecurity standards and protect individual and national security by incorporating basic safeguards into "Internet of Things" products purchased by the federal government. With hackers increasingly targeting internet-connected devices, Mark's legislation is a critical step toward raising the federal cybersecurity baseline, and was passed by the Republican-controlled Senate.
- What's next: President Trump is expected to sign Mark's bill into law.

-- Mark's bi-partisan legislation to combat money laundering and terrorist financing was included in this year's National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The Improving Laundering Laws and Increasing Comprehensive Information Tracking of Criminal Activity in Shell Holdings Act (ILLICIT CASH Act) aims to strengthen national security, increase corporate accountability, and aid law enforcement in tracking the financial activity of criminal groups.
